For those unwilling or unable to shell out on these expensive automobiles, the bicycle might be an affordable alternative. With the same standards and quality that we would associate with car manufacturing the bicycle also looks fantastic. The 2012 Mountain bike Enduro, will be loaded with a new Crank Brothers wheel set, thus improving downhill performance due to its superior stiffness. The Fox 32 O/B trail fork will have a travel of 140mm (5.5 inches), adjusting from the 150mm model that existed in the 2011 version.

Despite looking mightily similar to this previous version, there are a lot of adjustments that have been made to improve upon things. Among these is an improved frame, despite weighing the same. The bike comes in metallic black with a bright green contrast on the saddle.

The Touring Bike range has also received an overhaul. The Suntour NCX-D-26" suspension fork with 75mm (2.9 inches) of travel has been implemented, as has the Fox Float RP2 BV boost valve remote shocks on the Mountainbike Cross Country model. New colour combinations have been rolled out and a radial and cross-spoked pattern on the Cruise Bike offering extra stability whilst also looking very much the part.

As for pricing, the bikes are obviously less expensive than a car or motorcycle, but they do still come across as expensive - though they are packed with quality as is expected by BMW. Trekked Mobility Scooter

Step aside Segway, there's a new mobility gadget in town. The Trikke functions using three wheels as opposed wheels like the majority of scooters available today, setting it apart from the rest.

The Trikke takes a little getting used to, but once you feel comfortable on it, you can up the pace, and start making sharper turns, converting the gadget into a fun and imaginative way to get around.

While its maximum speed is a modest 17mph, the device will usually travel at an average of 12mph, relying entirely on electric power with zero emissions. The Trikke can operate for 24 miles per charge so don't go planning any long journeys without packing the charger first. The battery plugs directly into the wall, and is easily interchangeable.

The Trikke can fold inside itself to save space when you take it with you. The experience does not come cheap though, with the 36 Volt lite costing $1,299 and the 3G Volt costing $1,899. The top end of the range comes in the form of the 48 
Volt, which will set you back $2,199

                This looks like someone has amputated Batman's arm and stuffed an i-Phone inside, but it is actually theIkon Remote Control Buggy BodyGuard 9XI-HD01, a harmless version of Batman's weapon arm. The arm is made of cotton, Kevlar, as well asIkon Remote Control Buggy, a flame resistant fiber. It comes with an indentation to allow an iPhone to slot in neatly, and also charges the phone whilst it's sitting in there. Pretty neat.

The Bodyguard also comes with a 720p video camera, flashlight and a 300,000-volt stun gun for firing at any unwelcome intruders, making you feel a little more like a superhero. It can also charge other electronic devices through its Li-Ion battery pack.

The invention is not meant to be used in superhero situations, but was an idea thought up by Dave Brown after a string of mountain lion attacks around his Californian home. The arm can be bought in bulks of ten or more by contacting Armstar directly, but the price is yet to be disclosed publically. Batman beware, you have a worthy opponent!

Everyone loves robots. Not everyone loves spiders. This might leave you uncertain over this product, which comes courtesy of the University of Bielefeld's Department of Biological Cybernetics. Named HECTOR, (obviously an acronym for HExapod Cognitive auTonmously Operating Robot), this spider-like robot measures in at approximately one meter in length and is 12 kilograms in weight. 13 percent of this weight belongs to the exoskeleton, with joints on its legs allowing the robot to move somewhat creepily like a spider. Solar powered vehicles are beginning to be developed and introduced as our modern world goes 'green'. In a bid to create the best solar powered vehicle, to participate in the 2010 American Solar Challenge, a 1100 mile race from Tulsa to Chicago, emerges the Centaurus 2. The Centaurus 2, made by The Solar Vehicle Project team, looks to be powered by three wheels with the driver off the vehicle positioned off center. The Centaurus is approximately three feet tall, sixteen feet long and six feet wide. The car weighs around 400 pounds, which in comparison to a conventional car is rather light and should contribute towards improved aerodynamics.

If you're looking to uncover hidden treasure, then put your conventional metal detector to the side, and replace it with these pair of metal detecting sandals. Not exactly a trend setter, but a lot more practical than carrying a large pole around with you. The sandals are attached to a small black box, which can be strapped around one of your legs, concealed under your trouser leg. This is NTT's debut effort at creating a pair of power packing sandals, but unfortunately, despite the best of intentions, the visual aesthetics of the shoe leave a lot to be desired. These shoes are made to transform walking; into energy, but this latest gadget looks like a half-finished prototype more than a revolutionary new product. The shoe is designed to allow you to charge your gadgets, such as your mobile phone or i-pod, whilst you are on the move. Maple Phone Developed By Yoon And Lee

Transforming a popular product into a wooden version is a bizarre development, but the cell phone has just undergone such treatment. The Maple Phone has been developed by two Koreans, Hyun Jin Yoon and Eun Hak Lee as they prove that phones do not need to follow the same trend of plastic products. The wooden phone exhibits a touch sensitive keypad and also a camera. For the touchpad to work correctly, we believe that some different materials are used, as this would be impossible based on wood alone. The phone is great from an environmental perspective, since wood is a natural source and completely renewable. Perhaps this will pave the way for future wooden products.

This invention is still in its prototype stage yet aims to utilise defunct products and apply a different purpose to them. The Corona-Matic Waffle Maker makes waffles in the shape of computer keyboards. The gadget transforms an old style of writing equipment into a kitchen appliance which can cook up a few tasty treats. The inventor of the Corono-Matic is Chris Dimino, which was a group project at the School of Visual Arts. The task set for the students was to modify an exiting useless product into something which could be used nowadays, revolutionising the product and its use. The invention is yet to enter the mainstream market, but we think it will only be a matter of time.

Uno Motorbike Leans Into Action

For travel, many of us opt for a motorbike, whist very few of us have the time to learn to ride the more comical unicycle. Well, an 18 year-old scientist by the name of Ben J. Poss Gulak, has decided to merge both modes of transport, and develop what he has termed, 'Uno'. The bike caught the attention of many attendees to the 2008 National Motorcycle Show in Toronto, either because they thought it was cool or to determine what it actually was. The common wheel set-up, of one at the back and one at the front has been revolutionised into two wheels sitting side by side. The Uno also utilises rear footpegs and a considerably smaller chassis. Amazingly, the Uno weighs only 120lbs .
